Corner Point, LLC, a surveying and land development services firm, was recently acquired by A.C.E. Building Service, Inc. and is now Corner Point, A Division of A.C.E. Building Service.

Corner Point will continue to provide general land surveys for existing and new parcels for residential and commercial customers. Services also include construction staking, facilities surveying, and site design as well as elevation and floodplain surveys.

Incorporated in 1963, A.C.E. Building Service is located in Manitowoc, WI, and provides commercial and industrial construction services – including new buildings, expansions, renovations, metal re-roof, facilities maintenance, design/build, and build/lease – to Northeast Wisconsin.

A.C.E. Building Service completes expansion projects

A.C.E. Building Service recently completed two area expansion projects. AJS Tap Handles in Random Lake, WI selected A.C.E. Building Service to construct a 16,470 square-foot Butler® pre-engineered metal building expansion that increased their warehouse and production areas as well as an entirely new office area. AJS designs and manufactures custom tap handles for the beer and beverage industries as well as permanent point-of-sale items such as chalkboards, signs, beer flight trays, LED menu boards, edge-lit signs and wood display racks.

A.C.E. also completed an office expansion project for Stecker Machine located in Newton, WI. The 6,270 square-foot Butler® pre-engineered metal building addition created additional space for sales and engineering staff as well as a state-of-the-art conference and training center. Stecker focuses on high precision CNC machining of difficult parts for equipment used in various industries including agriculture, industrial and defense.

Petska attends course on Plumbing Systems in Commercial Buildings
Derek Petska, Estimator/Project Manager at A.C.E. Building Service, attended a course on Understanding Plumbing Systems in Commercial Buildings at the UW – Madison’s Department of Engineering.

The course covered the principals and understanding of plumbing design, codes and standards, and the installation and operation of plumbing systems including water piping, waste and vent, storm water, specialty gases, and equipment. The course also included specialty plumbing systems in healthcare facilities and laboratories.

Kyle Reuter of A.C.E. Building Service attended the Butler Builder® Product Course held in Kansas City, Missouri, May 22 to May 26. Reuter joined builders from across North America to learn in-depth information about the features and benefits of Butler® products including building structural systems, roof systems, as well as builder software. Additionally, the conference allowed Reuter to network with other commercial and industrial builders from around the country to share ideas and building success stories.

A.C.E. Building Service selected for St. John – St. James Expansion

A.C.E. Building Service was selected as the design/build contractor for an expansion to St. John – St. James Lutheran School and Church. The 16,585 square foot expansion will connect the existing school and church and is comprised of both Butler pre-engineered steel and conventional building systems.

The addition will include a new gymnasium, warming kitchen, shared commons area, and office space for both church and school functions. The project is scheduled for completion by early fall 2017.

St. John – St. James Lutheran School provides a quality Christ-centered education to students in 3-year-old kindergarten through 8th grade. The expansion will allow St. John – St. James the space necessary to expand their early childhood program, a separate project also underway. The expansion will also enhance existing school and church programs and activities as well as enhance ministry opportunities. They are excited to have updated facilities to match the quality education offered.

A.C.E. Building Service selected for Skana expansion project

Skana Aluminum Company has selected A.C.E. Building Service as the design/build contractor for an expansion to their existing facility. A.C.E. will construct a 21,560 square foot Butler pre-engineered steel building addition. This addition will provide additional space needed for Skana to upgrade their existing casting furnaces with state-of-the-art 50,000 lb. capacity melt/hold/tilt furnaces.

The project will be completed in two phases to allow Skana to maintain operations with the overall project slated for completion in the fall of 2017.

Founded in 2010, Skana Aluminum Company continues a long history of aluminum manufacturing in North America and along the Wisconsin lakeshore with an emphasis on producing 1000 and 3000 series aluminum coil and blanks to the OEM and Distribution markets.

A.C.E. Building Service awarded UW Founders Hall project

A.C.E. Building Service has been awarded the UW Founders Hall renovation in Manitowoc, WI. The project includes a 28,460 sq. ft. interior renovation to the existing facility with updates to the science labs, library and bookstore. The project will also see upgrades to exterior windows, parking areas and facility mechanical upgrades.

Completion of the project will be completed in two phases; phase one in August 2017 and phase two December 2017.

UW-Manitowoc is part of the University of Wisconsin System and one of the 14 freshman/sophomore campuses of the UW Colleges. UW-Manitowoc offers an Associate of Arts and Science Degree, the foundation to a bachelor’s degree and specialized professional and occupational degrees.

Building Code seminar updates A.C.E. Building Service employee

Mike Frozena of A.C.E. Building Service attended a Wisconsin Commercial Building Code Refresher seminar in Madison to stay current on building requirements as required by the state of Wisconsin. By attending this annual code update program, A.C.E. is able to remain up to date with building code requirements and how to best use the code for customer projects.

The program, held by the UW Madison Department of Engineering, addressed updates for 2017, including: egress and accessibility, health care facilities, mechanical provisions, fire resistive construction; fire prevention, new structural provisions, existing buildings and changes in the Wisconsin code.
